About Us

We are a small but mission\-driven tutoring and education services company serving primarily NYC DOE students — approximately 95% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our students and families navigate systemic barriers every day, and we exist to provide not just academic support, but stability, responsiveness, and excellence.

We believe student success requires deep partnership with families, strong relationships with school leaders, and a high\-performing internal team. This role exists because growth demands intentional leadership. We are looking for a Senior Program Manager who understands this student population deeply and knows how to build both strong programs and strong teams.

This is not a maintenance role. This is a build\-and\-lead role. We want someone who sees gaps, creates systems, builds trust with principals, and holds adults accountable so students can thrive.

The Role

The Senior Program Manager is the senior leader responsible for program quality, school partnerships, team performance, and family experience.

You will oversee tutoring programs that serve predominantly DOE students from low\-income communities. You must understand the realities facing free/reduced lunch students — attendance barriers, academic gaps, family responsibilities, housing instability, language access issues — and design programming that is structured, consistent, and responsive.

You will also manage relationships with principals, assistant principals, community school directors, and other school\-based leaders. Trust with school leadership is critical to our success.

You will report directly to the owner and serve as a key partner in execution, growth, and accountability.

Core Responsibilities

Program Leadership \& Student Impact

  • Own implementation and performance of tutoring programs across DOE school sites
  • Ensure programming meets the academic and social realities of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch
  • Build systems for tracking attendance, engagement, and measurable academic progress
  • Identify barriers impacting student participation and proactively problem\-solve
  • Ensure culturally responsive and high\-expectation programming
  • School Partnerships \& External Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DOE principals, assistant principals, and community school directors
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for school\-based partners
  • Ensure consistent communication, reliability, and follow\-through
  • Understand school\-level priorities and align programming accordingly
  • Protect and strengthen our reputation within the NYC DOE ecosystem
  • Team Building \& Culture

  • Recruit and hire educators who are experienced working with low\-income DOE students
  • Set clear instructional and professional standards
  • Coach tutors and site leads toward measurable student outcomes
  • Hold staff accountable to attendance, quality, and communication expectations
  • Address underperformance directly and constructively
  • Build a culture of urgency, ownership, and care
  • Operations \& Systems

  • Create repeatable processes so quality is consistent across schools
  • Anticipate operational risks (staffing gaps, attendance drops, school communication breakdowns)
  • Partner with the owner on strategic growth within DOE and community school networks
  • Stay current on trends in urban education and responsible use of AI in instructional support
  • Compensation

  • Base Salary \+ Bonus: $75,000–$95,000 (depending on experience)
  • Opportunity for role expansion and compensation growth as the organization scales
  • We value transparency and alignment. This role is best suited for someone motivated by ownership, impact, and long\-term growth — not someone seeking a low\-accountability administrative position.

    Who You Are

    Required:

  • Significant experience working with NYC DOE students, particularly those qualifying for free/reduced lunch
  • Deep understanding of the academic and structural challenges facing low\-income students and families
  • Existing relationships with NYC DOE principals, assistant principals, community school leaders, or youth\-serving organizations
  • Experience managing programs or teams in school\-based environments
  • Proven ability to build systems and hold adults accountable
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and limited infrastructure
  • Strong initiative — you do not wait to be told what needs fixing
  • Bonus (Nice to Have):

  • Experience working within Community Schools or DOE\-funded contracts
  • Familiarity with attendance, compliance, and reporting requirements in DOE environments
  • Curiosity about leveraging AI responsibly to support instruction and operations
  • Experience in small, scrappy, fast\-growing organizations
  • What This Role Is (and Is Not)

    This role is:

  • Deeply student\-centered and equity\-driven
  • Relationship\-heavy — especially with principals and school leaders
  • High trust, high autonomy, high accountability
  • Hands\-on and strategic
  • A chance to build systems that directly impact students who need consistency most
  • This role is not:

  • A purely administrative coordinator role
  • A large corporate education position with built\-in infrastructure
  • A fit for someone who avoids difficult conversations or accountability
  • A role for someone unfamiliar with NYC DOE school culture
  • Why This Matters

When you serve students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, inconsistency hurts more. Staff turnover hurts more. Weak systems hurt more.

This role determines whether students receive stability, high expectations, and real academic growth — and whether principals trust us enough to expand our footprint.

If you care deeply about under represented DOE students and believe strong adult leadership is the foundation of student success, we want to talk.
