Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail\-oriented Medical Office Assistant to support our healthcare team in delivering exceptional patient care and efficient office operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, proficiency with electronic health record systems, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment by managing patient interactions, documentation, billing, and office management tasks with professionalism and accuracy.

Duties

  • Greet patients, schedule appointments, and manage front desk operations with excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection activities.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR systems) such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with medical coding including CPT, ICD\-9, ICD\-10 coding for billing and documentation purposes while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage medical records filing, scanning, and data entry using various office software like Microsoft Office; handle multi\-line phone systems efficiently.
  • Support clinical staff by preparing patient intake forms, updating care plans, and coordinating appointment scheduling using medical office management software such as Availity and Bflow.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare policies related to health information management and confidentiality standards under HIPAA guidelines.
  • Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is required; clinic or hospital experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD\-9/ICD\-10\), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid is desirable.
  • Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations.
  • Proven ability to handle administrative tasks such as filing, documentation review, appointment scheduling, and patient service in a fast\-paced setting.
  • Excellent computer skills including typing (10 key), familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, and experience with dental or medical office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
