- Processes various financial documents and data, analyzes data and prepares internal financial reports consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the business unit, and the tasks and responsibilities of the Business Assistant II with respect to achieving unit goals.
- Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi\-routine work, and within established work parameters for the unit.
- Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, and the basic application of concepts, theories, and terminology of accounting.
- Prepares and coordinates administrative work of the unit, which may include Expense reports, Travel Orders, Marketplace Requests, Oracle, Journal Entries, Cash Transmittal, HCM, academic support, policy dissemination and application, and office operations/maintenance.
- Prepares all HCM action documents; ensures all newly hired staff charging instruction are entered promptly and that salary is correctly charged to appropriate accounts and projects. •
- Performs HR payroll duties for staff, student workers, student fellows and hourly workers in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Maintains procedures set forth by Accounting Specialist to ensure HR and Payroll procedures are incorporated into the Rutgers Global processes and HR and Payroll adhere to University, State and Federal, and all other applicable policies and regulations.
- Maintains departmental and program accounts to ensure that budgets are adhered to University, State and Federal, and all other applicable policies and regulations.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
- Good communication skills and computer literacy.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, computer and customer relation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and special assignments in a professional manner.
