Join our dynamic, fast\-paced orthodontic team as a Registered Dental Assistant specializing in Orthodontics! Our practice utilizes state\-of\-the\-art technology and the most advanced systems in the industry, including BRAVA and other cutting\-edge orthodontic solutions. With our own in\-house lab where we fabricate custom retainers and aligners, you'll be part of a comprehensive treatment experience from start to finish. Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during various orthodontic procedures, including initial consultations, bracket and band placements, wire adjustments, appliance fittings, and retainer deliveries.
- Operate and maintain advanced orthodontic technology including BRAVA systems and other state\-of\-the\-art equipment to deliver
- Set up chairs with the necessary orthodontic instruments, materials, and appliances, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Take and develop orthodontic records including cephalometric X\-rays, panoramic radiographs, intraoral and extraoral photographs, and digital scans to support accurate diagnoses and treatment planning
- Fabricate and adjust orthodontic appliances, assist with bonding and debonding procedures, and perform ligature ties and archwire changes under orthodontist supervision
- Work with our in\-house lab to fabricate custom retainers and aligners, including taking impressions, digital scans, and quality control checks to ensure perfect fit and function
- Manage electronic medical records (Ortho 2 Edge) to document treatment progress, chart adjustments, and track appointment schedules accurately and securely in a high\-volume, fast\-paced environment
- Educate patients and their guardians on orthodontic appliance care, oral hygiene practices with braces, dietary restrictions, and emergency procedures to promote successful treatment outcomes
- Support the front office team by scheduling orthodontic adjustment appointments, coordinating treatment phases, updating patient records, and assisting with insurance documentation
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control guidelines, sterilization procedures, and proper maintenance of orthodontic equipment and materials
- Monitor patient comfort during procedures, provide chairside support for anxious patients, and communicate treatment progress effectively
- Thrive in a fast\-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and exceptional patient care standards
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant
- Proven experience working in an orthodontic practice; experience in a fast\-paced, high\-volume practice is a must
- Proficiency with orthodontic practice management systems such as Dolphin, OrthoTrac, Dentrix Ascend, or similar EMR platforms
- Experience with or willingness to learn advanced orthodontic technologies including BRAVA systems and digital treatment platforms
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic terminology, bracket systems, archwire progressions, appliance types, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with or ability to learn retainer and aligner fabrication processes in an in\-house lab setting is highly desirable
- Ability to operate orthodontic\-specific equipment including cephalometric X\-ray machines, panoramic imaging systems, digital scanners, and bonding/curing lights safely and effectively
- Skilled in orthodontic chairside assisting techniques including bracket placement, wire threading, elastic chain application, and appliance adjustments
- Excellent communication skills to explain orthodontic procedures and home care instructions clearly to patients and their families while demonstrating patience and empathy
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform detailed procedures requiring fine motor skills and hand\-eye coordination, and lift or move equipment as needed
- Detail\-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple patients in various treatment phases
- Ability to multitask effectively and maintain composure in a fast\-paced clinical environment
