Overview
We are seeking a detail\-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role requires proficiency in various payroll and accounting software, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of financial concepts. The Payroll Specialist will play a vital part in maintaining accurate employee compensation records and supporting benefits administration within our organization.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian to ensure timely and accurate employee payments
- Manage payroll data entry, including hours worked, deductions, bonuses, and benefits information
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for general ledger accounting
- Administer employee benefits programs and assist with benefits enrollment and adjustments
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements
- Perform account reconciliation related to payroll transactions and tax filings
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions as needed within the financial software systems
- Assist with governmental reporting requirements related to payroll taxes and other statutory obligations
- Collaborate with HRIS systems to update employee records and manage HR\-related data
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain detailed documentation of payroll procedures and audit trails for internal controls
- Proven experience with payroll management using software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits \& credits, and general ledger reconciliation
- Familiarity with financial concepts related to corporate accounting, governmental accounting, non\-profit accounting, and benefits administration
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or other financial management tools
- Excellent data entry skills including 10 key typing accuracy and speed
- Understanding of tax regulations related to payroll processing and reporting requirements
- Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently
- Strong analysis skills for reviewing payroll reports and identifying discrepancies
- Experience with HRIS systems for managing human resources data is preferred
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes is a plus
