Duties
- Oversee the end\-to\-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, coding, approval workflows, and timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes\-Oxley Act), and internal control policies across all transactions.
- Manage relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and inquiries promptly.
- Utilize advanced accounting software such as Workday, SAP (PeopleSoft), Oracle, or similar platforms to streamline operations and maintain accurate records.
- Perform account reconciliations, analyze payment data, and prepare detailed reports for management review.
- Supervise a team of accounts payable specialists, providing coaching on best practices in data entry, double\-entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Collaborate with finance teams on month\-end closing activities, general ledger reconciliation, and audit preparations.
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations related to vendor payments and ensure proper documentation for audits.
- Support benefits administration and HRIS systems integration related to payroll management and employee expense reimbursements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes using tools like Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Sage or Ceridian.
- Proven experience managing accounts payable functions within a corporate accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, payroll management, accounts receivable, governmental accounting, and non\-profit accounting if applicable.
- Familiarity with financial software such as Workday, QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, SAP or similar ERP systems is essential.
- Demonstrated ability in account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and analysis skills.
- Experience with SOX compliance procedures and internal controls is highly desirable.
- Background in public accounting or corporate finance roles that involve technical accounting practices is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10\-key typing is preferred.
