- 5\+ years of experience in event planning and marketing
- Supervisory experience or experience coaching/mentoring others
- Experience working with specific populations including scholars, underrepresented and transfer students
- Prior higher education marketing experience, particularly Undergraduate Admissions
- General knowledge of admission/enrollment management
- Experience mentoring / coaching / training others
- Practitioner of project management software and other tools and some design experience
- Some experience working in a customer relationship management (CRM ) system such as Slate or Salesforce
- Experience with student recruitment and admissions practices, managing and interpreting data, organizing events and programs, strategic planning and data\-informed decision\-making
- Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate insights from data derived from virtual engagement deliverables (e.g.: conversion impact, marketing planning, etc.)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required
- Project management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently
- Must be able to lead projects and others, as well as work both collaboratively and independently with little direct supervision
- Ability to train, mentor and coach others relative to virtual events
- Possess strong creative instincts and sound business judgement
- Thrives in highly ambiguous, very fast\-moving environment

The Sr. Assistant Director for Special Events reports to the Director of Visitor Center. As a member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Visitor Center, this collaborative role works closely with other Assistant Directors within admissions and enrollment management.
The Sr. Assistant Director plans, leads, executes and evaluates major campus recruitment events (with 3,000\-5,000 attendees per event; 10\-12 events per year) for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Visitor Center. This includes evaluating event histories, budget considerations, contractual provisions and planning committee recommendations to determine requirements as to space, facilities, technology, equipment, catering, on\-site management and participants.
The Sr. Assistant Director directly supervises one full\-time staff member (Assistant Director for Visitor Services) as well as a graduate assistant and/or 15\-20 undergraduate students. The position is also responsible for providing written and in\-person training for staff volunteers on task\-specific event duties and overseeing the student volunteer training.
As a member of the management team in Undergraduate Admissions, the position will participate in the strategic and tactical decisions for the office. This position contributes to the development of visit strategies that determine the success of USC’s enrollment goals. The Sr. Assistant Director is also expected to periodically participate in various on and off\-campus activities and events.
