JAZZ FORUM FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER
OPPORTUNITY
The Jazz Forum is seeking a skilled Front of House Manager to host and manage operations of our weekend jazz club and restaurant. This role is for someone who values creating a positive, intimate guest experience, has a genuine interest in live music, and is excited to grow with the organization. The Front of House Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and works in close partnership with the Executive Director and the Chef. The position begins as an hourly role with a clear path to a salaried position upon successful completion of an initial three month probationary period, and is designed to grow into a senior club leadership role over time, in partnership with the Chef.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage, coach, and monitor performance of front\-of\-house and box office staff.
- Support and assist, as needed, front\-of\-house staff during and between service.
- Monitor guest experience; address issues with professionalism and courtesy.
- Provide direction and coordinate with box office staff to address customer questions, prepare seating charts, and ensure a warm and welcoming club experience.
- Collaborate with the Chef and floor staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the Chef to conduct staff training and to maintain a safe, secure, sanitary, and compliant environment.
- Coordinate nightly with the Floor Captain to close register and manage cash tips distribution, and with box office staff to close out box office sales.
- Recruit front\-of\-house staff in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer.
- Manage beverage inventory.
- Conduct analyses of F\&B sales and make pricing and content adjustments as necessary.
- Greet and brief performing musicians on club policies and service to musicians.
- Announce performances from stage based on script, as needed.
- Serve as on\-site host and manager of private events as needed.
- Uphold and ensure standards of service and culture to support the mission and vision of Jazz Forum Arts as a non\-profit arts organization running a jazz club.
- Minimum 5 years in restaurant or hospitality management and at various levels in front\-of\-house operations, ideally in a bar/restaurant/venue with live music, with demonstrated experience leading and developing a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with guests and staff.
- Experience with operations management, team management, and staff training.
- Strong organizational skills to oversee box office and front\-of\-house and coordinate activities calmly and efficiently.
- Proficient money handling, inventory management, and operations skills.
- Strong problem\-solving and collaborative decision\-making skills; ability to resolve issues collaboratively.
- Ability to take initiative, follow through, and multi\-task.
- Experience with reservation/ticketing systems, restaurant POS systems, and analyses of product sales; familiarity with Lightspeed/Breadcrumb POS system and Spektrix ticketing system a plus.
- Knowledge of bar operations, Italian wines, beers, and cocktails.
- Minimum of current Food Handler Certificate.
- Knowledge/appreciation/love of jazz and other live music.
- Outgoing personality and good sense of humor.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE \& EXPERIENCE
The position requires excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, strong management skills, and the ability to provide great customer service and handle the operations of a busy, intimate venue with grace and confidence.
HOURS \& PAY
This is a 30\-35 hour\-per\-week position with in\-person floor shifts on Friday and Saturday (3 PM to 12 AM) and Sunday (2 PM to 9 PM), along with administrative work completed remotely or in the office as needed. The role starts as an hourly position at $35 per hour.
As Jazz Forum Arts continues to grow, the role will transition to a full\-time salaried position (minimum of 40 hours), with weekday hours and broader responsibilities added, and strong potential for advancement into senior club leadership over time. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays when the Club is open.
WHO WE ARE
The Jazz Forum in Tarrytown, NY has been in operation since 2017 and serves a clientele who enjoy a meaningful live music experience and consider the Club a relaxed "living room" space. The Club is the primary revenue\-generating program for a 41\-year\-old Westchester\-based non\-profit organization. With a capacity of 90 patrons per set, there are two shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday year\-round, and the club has a full food and bar menu and a lounge with a pool table. The menu is Italian\-influenced with a full bar and Italian wine selection.
