- Demonstrate ability to manage multiples tasks and projects in a productive manner.
- Demonstrate interdepartmental support and teamwork through a supportive and collaborative approach.
- Ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures, mandatory requirements, and licensure and certification requirements.
- Meet mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives as listed in the Performance Management Plan.
- Demonstrate ability to identify strategic management initiatives.

- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow\-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
- Serve as a role model. Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients
- Provide direction and act as resource to other members of the specialty team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care.
- Responsible for circulating cases as needed to surgical patients.
- Collaborate with staff and Director to plan and implement high quality patient care.
- Orient and monitor new employees’ departmental orientation and progress. Make progressive assignments to ensure competence in all clinical categories. Identify clinical preceptors for new staff and students.
- Serve as a clinical resource to those assigned to the unit.
- Assist Department Director in employee evaluations.
- Demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills required, and technology of the department employed in the care of patients on the unit.
- Assist Department Director in budget preparation.
- Prepare written reports as requested by the Department Director.
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing or Frist Assistant program required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state or Certified Frist Assistant required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider required upon hire.
- Current ACLS certification required or must be acquired within six months of hire.

The Surgical Services Manager ensures high quality, patient\-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.
